This method book is intended to benefit the advanced tenor pan player. The concepts and techniques
included may require the player to already have a high level of proficiency playing traditional two
mallet/two stick steelpan with sufficient technical ability. Those utilizing this book should have experience
playing in solo and ensemble settings and be proficient in traditional Western music notation to fully engage with
this method’s curriculum. This book does not include beginning steelpan instruction as many quality beginning
pan books already exist. The exercises and figures in this text use a low C 4ths/5ths-tuned pan and translate best
to a similar tenor pan; however, these techniques work equally well on a different pan layout but may require
transposition and adaptation.
